Udoo : What you get when you combine Arduino "Micro-controller " With Raspberry Pi "Computing Power" Review:
So I did a post some days back, Where I Compared the Arduino With raspberry Pi and other computing boards. So at the comments I noticed a guy saying Arduino + Raspberry Pi = Ultimate Power , And I Agree. So i started some digging and found this brand new device, Titled " UDOO ", yea, This device ( in some terms ) is more powerful and flexible than a notebook .
Pronounced as " You Do" , This machine will be a solution to all those geek boys problems who seek the power of Rasp-pi and flexibility of Arduino in one piece.
So whats so new about this machine ? Lets find out :
So What is UDOO ?
Udoo is a mini computing device. Just like beagleboard, pinkboard, raspberry pi, arduino , this is a one board Gadget which consumes very little power. This mini PC combines the best of its predecessors in a compact PC-on-a-board with four times the power of a Raspberry Pi with all the functions of an Arduino Due micro-controller.This board is a Direct competitor of Arduino and Rasp-pi. And it is selling like a Blockbuster Movie.
( For newbies : arduino is a singe board micro controller used to perform little tasks like blinking LED's, MP3 player, and it is widely used as a IR Controller, which can control AC's, TV's, and other things, It quickly gained fame because of its add-ons, called Shields. These shields ads extended functionality , like receiving GSM Signals, Connecting to other devices, etc.Raspberry Pi is a minicomputer. )
What are its Software-Side Specifications ?
On the software side, this mini computer runs both Android 4.0 and Linux, Which is ideal for projects that need to work on both platforms.With the power of Android, You get a Mobile Operating System, Which will soon take over the world (because it is backed by Google Inc. ), And as you know, Linux , The name is enough.
Back To Udoo,By default, the machine runs "Linaro", Thats a Linux distro optimized for ARM architecture. Using Linaro, you can handily use the Arduino IDE development environment and send code directly to the SAM3X Arduino processor without having to fuss with cables. Alternatively, the developers of Udoo claim Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich runs without a hitch.
And By the hardware specifications I would say that this board can run Mint, Ubuntu, Backtrack easily.
So yeah, I Completely forgot, The IDE : Udoo runs its own development environment, and while using Linaro, you can use the Arduino IDE.

With power, Comes great Pricing. Well not that much, Udoo will be priced at 90$ - 130$ , and if you are interested in this, i recommend you to act fast. because this is selling fast.
What I Say :
FINALLY!!!!! A SATA port, Ethernet, Linux, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, So Much connectivity, It is a must-buy-product for a programmer/developer.
